Expect about a 5-10 hp gain depending on the manufacturer... The more "freeflow" (i.e. louder) the more gain. Replacing the exhaust isn't really too hard for a DIYer but it helps to get the car up off the ground and/or have an assistant to help wrestle it into place. Since your car is new the bolts on the stock muffler shouldn't be too rusty YET.
The SOUND is a subjective thing... Most of em you can't hear with the windows up so they're not that objectionable. You only REALLY hear it when you step on the gas... Saab's Sport Exhaust is a good compromise and the price is less than most of the aftermarket exhausts. Plus it's all stainless steel with a LIFETIME warranty. It's a no-brainer if you keep your cars a long time and don't want to replace rusty exhaust pipes every 3-4 years.
