These are notoriously fickle about how much refrigerant is in the system, and being just over or just under can have an impact on performance. I have a 2003 Arc and it seems that my a/c charge capacity per the sticker is 825g (1.81 lbs) versus 875g (1.9 lbs) which is common in other years. Many years ago the system was erroneously charged to the 875g and it just didn’t work well. When I brought it back and they evacuated and refilled to 825g it worked much better.
If you indeed had a leak in the equipment you were using you could very well be light on the amount of refrigerant, contributing to what you see occurring.
