Here is the procedure:
https://saabwisonline.com/c3/9-5/2000/7-suspension-wheels/wheel-hub/adjustment-replacement-wheel-hub/front-wheel-bearings/to-remove-354/
Tools needed (*optional):
- Impact driver/long breaker bar (best 3/4", but 1/2" will do) for unscrewing hub nuts
- *wheel hub puller if the axle is stuck in the hub (rust on splines, wood+hammer not working) - I like hydraulic ones similar to this one (sample picture):
https://pimdatacdn.bahco.com/media/sub925/16a7d24704b10a3f.png
- Snap ring pliers for the bearing circlip
- set of proper size bushes to push out old / push in new bearing
- torque wrench to tighten all screws to proper torque
Chemicals
- molybdenum grease for axle spline and to facilitate bearing pushing into the hub. Molykote G-rapid plus or equivalent.
- brake cleaner
Tips
- You can simplify original procedure by pressing the bearing on the car using screw/impact type puller with bushes.
- New hub nut is recommended - it should come in the bearing kit.
- Better not even try to remove ABS sensor - it's almost always seized and breaks during removal. If the steering swivel member/whole McPherson strut has to removed from the car, you can leave the sensor on place and disconnect it from the wire harness in the engine bay. If the sensor screw is corroded - replace it with new one - it will save you future issues, when the sensor will need to be replaced.
