I've got to replace a door on an '06 wagon coming up soon, so I was wondering the same thing.
But I think you should try to replace like with like for a different reason. In my experience at least, the plastic trim parts on the 2001 and older 9-5s are ultra fragile. Yes, my '01 did a stint in direct South Florida sun before I rescued the car, but this early trim is just a crumbly mess. I'm actually considering replacing all the door trim on my '01 with later trim.
