help programming DICE Posted by TML [Email] (#2212) [Profile/Gallery] (more from TML) on Sun, 28 Nov 2021 11:23:41 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
I replaced the DICE, and tried programming it and have run into a road block. I couldn't find much info online, so I was just stumbling through the menus. From this I discovered that in addition to programming the DICE features, you also have to program in the car VIN and divorce the entertainment head unit from the old DICE. When I try to do this, I end up in a loop. If I try to enter the VIN into the DICE, it tells me I have to divorce the EHU first. If I try to divorce the EHU first, it says I need security access from TIS2000. I previously gained access to replace the TWICE, and my understanding was that until I request access for a different VIN, the access remains in the Tech2. So I'm guessing it's because the DICE VIN doesn't match the car VIN and the one programmed in the TWICE? Not really sure about that. Do I need to the EHU divorce with the old DICE before installing the new DICE? That doesn't make a lot of sense to me, because what if the old DICE completely failed?
If someone could tell me at least what order I'm supposed to do the stuff in, that would be great.

I may have found the source of my problems. I found this little nugget on another forum:
"Also a used DICE needs to be "divorced" from the original car before removal. If this is not done, you won't be able to marry it to your car. So if you buy off ebay, be careful."
If this is true, it's what is happening to me. The "new" DICE shows up as having a different VIN. However, having said that, I'm still not completely convinced. When I was going through the menus, there was no option to divorce/marry the DICE. It was under the EHU menu. I'm no less confused, just differently confused by this.
