I don’t think the malfunctioning AC would have anything to do with too much heat unless you are experiencing summer temperatures. The ACC should adjust the mixture of heat and outside air in cool temperatures to achieve the desired temperature. After you get the AC leaks fixed and the system recharged you will still probably need to deal with too much heat. A Tech 2 will give you the temperatures in the left and right mixing chambers to help diagnose the problem. But even in the winter the AC comes on during sunny days if outside air isn’t keeping the cabin to the set temperature as long as the temperature is above freezing outside. The proof would be if you are still getting too much heat at night with no solar warming. Make sure your outside air temperature reading is accurate because a malfunctioning outside sensor could throw the ACC off. Less commonly, a malfunctioning inside air temperature sensor could also cause a problem like this but you would also need a Tech 2 to see what they are reading. Good luck.
