Congratulations on your new car! I love my new Aero as well. I have used Mobil1 for nearly 20 years with excellent results (before that it was CAM2). In my BMW's, I have used Redline Synthetic. I do my first change at 1000 miles and then at 4-5K mile intervals there after (which is about once/month for me). This is most likely overkill - as modern synthetic oils degrade very little and good filters remove most grit - but I do enjoy the ritual. The Saab oil is a semisynthetic and of no particular advantage. I also use the Mobil1 oil filter as well. It is not cheap ($9-11) - but its filtering capacity is unparalleled (#M1-102). I use 5w-30 in the summer and the new 0w-30 in the winter (I live on Cape Cod MA). The mud-flap thing is a challenge - I have not found any either. However, the shape of the lower body cladding limits the throw of grit onto the fenders.... its the brake dust that will drive you nuts... see nearby postings (I've used EBC Greens on many of my cars with excellent results).
Happy Motoring
Eric
