Thanks Paul and used to be slug,
I have NAPA gold battery, took it there and the computer tester said OK ( hmmm ) so having old bucks behind the counter, like me in front of them...I asked if they had a carbon pile battery load tester. IT load tested 10.5V at 200 AMPS over 10 seconds.
these carbon pile are assembly of 10-6"x6" plates, that conduct in response to 'physical' pressure, twisting a huge knob. so released, the big cables are to your battery, and an amp gage and volt gage
are in series, so tech cranks slowly till actual starter amps ( NOT rating on battery - please )
4 cyl are 100-150 and are OK V/* are 150-200 amps. load is applied only for 8 seconds. longer and more amps and heat and light smoke come off the carbon piles. Yes, this shorts pos and neg battery SAFELY together for a real amp production test of any battery. I used these in the 1970 - 2004, then the computer gizzmo whizmo hand held took over. Fast Charge highest voltage test also fell by way side. a battery is not good if 50 amp fast charger connected and running has voltage over 15V in 3 minutes.
Slug encouraging on the Bosche, I will report back on denso, I really like the no core charge and return shipping.
Don
