Intermittent airbag light....again Posted by NCCaniac [Email] (#352) [Profile/Gallery] (more from NCCaniac) on Tue, 20 Feb 2024 18:42:58 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
Last March I had a thread about an intermittent airbag light on my 2008 9-5 Sportcombi that eventually my Saab mechanic found had logged codes that the "clock spring" in the steering wheel was faulty and after it was replaced, the problem stopped.
A week or two ago I started seeing a similar issue with the airbag light. After driving for several hours, the light came on with a "ding", stayed on for 5 seconds, turned off, then cycled like this every 10-20 seconds. On for 5 seconds, off, then on again for 5 seconds 10-20 seconds later, etc. Now it does this once or twice after first starting the car, but then might not start again for a few miles of driving.
My OBD II code reader finds no logged codes and my mechanic last week found no logged codes with more extensive checks with the Tech II.
I had a bluetooth OBD II reader (that works with the Torque app on my phone) plugged in and my mechanic suggested removing that and seeing if the problem stopped. This seemed a good thing to try, but it seems to not make a difference with it plugged in or removed.
This problem acts like whatever CPU monitors the impact sensors might be having problems getting a response from a sensor intermittently, but it seems like that would leave a code that the Tech II could read.
Anyone else seen this before and have an idea of what else to checck?
