So I think it would be more useful to have the actual code rather than the interpretation of the code from the guy at the Autoparts store. One can buy a basic generic code reader for $50 or less that will allow him to read and clear codes.
If he is 17, he could probably learn to change his oil himself. Some of those quick lube places are not great to take any car to, but especially something unusual like a Saab. Unless he has a good Saab Indy readily available, gaining knowledge of repairs, at least the easy ones, will lead to a lot more success in his Saab ownership experience...
