Volvos are heavy. So more power is needed to make them feel quick. I actually think their interiors are well done, but I'd miss things like night panel, window controls between the seats etc. The newest wagon, the v90cc, feels big, but holds less than the 9-5 wagons... Lots of slopey stuff going on. Plus the new ones don't have raised roof rails so it's a lot harder to tie down lumber on the roof etc...

Yeah, if you're hard core commited to Saabs and the car is in good shape in terms of rust and other stuff, it could easily make sense to overhaul the engine. Our 9-5s are high mileage and have been subjected to over a decade of hauling children all over the planet in our salty winters so they are hardly show cars at this point. I would say the same is true for most Saabs I see here. Realistically we will hopefully get a couple more years out of them before rust gets too bad. You may not have much of an issue with rust in your area if you can look ahead another 14 years? I took our previous daily driver c900 off the road for winters back when we got the first 9-5, and so it is still quite good and should last a long time. I am starting to get comments now from people looking at my 9-5's like I got from people re my c900s a decade ago, so maybe they are developing some classic collector qualities as time passes.
