Thanks for the reply. We'll take the car back to the dealer on Monday. Could have been a programming issue when the 2nd key was introduced to the TWICE. Car sat overnight and message disappeared but came back when car hit a pothole. Coincidence? Loose wire? We'll see.

I've heard of disconnecting a battery to help clear codes. Tried that on a '98 Volvo I recently brokered that had a pattern failure in the ABS. No joy. It's worth a try. My indie had the battery disconnected prior to the key purchase / programming. It was disconnected to install a new driver's seat belt.

The iCarSoft scanner I have reads the TWICE. And yes, it shows the hood as open went it's closed and vice versa. I activate the switch and can watch the inverted open and close states change, so it's not the switch. I've seen a u-tube video showing the same inverted states with someone chasing them with a Tech2. I think it's a programming issue. My big fear is that it's a TWICE issue and it could mean a replacement which is NOT cheap. The car is so nice though that whatever it is, we'll fix it.

I wish there was a way to disable the silly anti-theft system and permanently get rid of the message. The car lives 80% of its life in a locked garage in a very safe neighborhood. A policeman we know says 90% of cars stolen in neighborhoods like this occur when homeowners forget to close the garage doors and leave and the keys in the car.

We'll probably have this 9-5 for a while so I'm sorely tempted to buy a Tech2 and learn it.
