If you're thinking platinum, try the iridium Posted by Robin [Email] (#2944) [Profile/Gallery] (more from Robin) on Fri, 9 Aug 2002 22:00:58 In Reply to: NGK Platinum BCPR6EVX-11's, worth $$ or not??, 9-5 Smitty, Wed, 7 Aug 2002 23:23:44 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
I have a '01 9-3SE and decided to change the factory plugs to the copper BCPR6EVX-11's... found the idle wasn't as smooth... looked online and found that NGK now has Iridium plugs (similar to platinum) so i bought a set of those from ClubPlug up in canada (see link below)
I'm thrilled! they're $6.67 a plug (not bad) and seem to both run great and idle very smoothly.
Be VERY CARFUL when gapping them... you can't use the gapping tool to close the gap as this will break off the tiny anode ... the best way is to tap the outer cathode on a hard surface (like a table) two or three times to get the feel for how much it closes... I gapped to the factory spec of .0375 (for my 9-3SE) and all is well.
Good Luck!
