I've completed a 2,500 mile road trip to the Saab Convention and can now report on the results of my brake job. I replaced he OEM front pads and rotors with pads from Raybestos and rotors from Zimmerman (cross drilled). The performance is very good, pad dust is way down from stock, there is still dusting but I'd say only 30-40% of original. The pads work well too, pedal feel and modulation perhaps a bit better than stock. On the road, I had to make a few hard decelerations when brain-deads pulled out in front of me, the car pulled up well, no weaving or pulling. I can't speak about fade since there were never enough hills or curves to really work the brakes hard over a long period.
Incidentally the rotors and pads cost well less than $300 and took about an hour to install. The rotors would have been much less had I bought the standard solid type. I have no idea if the cross drilled ones improve performance, but they sure look good!
