I've heard that its hard to find a bike rack that hangs on the back of a 9-5 wagon as there's no gaps to hang it from. Have you considered a roof rack? Thats what I put my bikes on and when they're on the roof you can still get into your cargo area- nice if you want to get into the cooler on a long road trip.
I got the Saab (Thule) bars as part of the original deal I negotiated, and put some Thule "velo-vise" carriers onto them. Works great, doesn't make too much noise as the bikes sit a bit more rearward than on a sedan. And its much more secure when you come across a nice twisty bit of road on the way there.
