aron..
actually the bass is fairly well reproduced, it is both clear and balanced.. The problem most of us have is that we like to hear that mid bass "thump" that gives a false impression of good bass. The midbass kick is most prominent in rock/pop/modern jazz/etc..
Try keeping the default volume setting at 24 and the loudness off as you have. Then try turning the fader from its center/12 oclock position down to about 10 or 11 oclock to bring up the rear subwoofers. Also turn up the treble from the center to about 2 oclock. (you may need to turn the bass slightly down from center on some recordings to reduce the muddiness or midbass boom).
Now try turning up the volume a bit and see how that sounds.. I find it gives a little richer and tighter bass sound...
This system definitely handles classical music better than pop.. I suspect the lack of midbass is due to the lower quality 6.5 inch midbass/treble drivers they use in the front doors. So when the fader is in its center position, you hear the weakness of those drivers.
hope this helps
