I just bought an Aero 3 weeks ago, plus, I also have a 12-year old 900TC. The Aero is more mainstream, thus, more generic than my 900 and there's nothing sporty about a 4-door car when is comes to appearance IMO. Had I had my way, I would have opted for another convertible (the 9-3), but, the other half wanted a sedan. The 9-3 is more mainstream than the OG900, but, it still is very different from everything else on the road these days. The 9-5 has been a better or more reliable car that the 9-3; that's my independent mechanic's opinion (however, the 9-3 has made some strides the last 2 years) and Consumer's opinion. The 9-5 is a pleasure to drive and I really didn't consider anything else once it was known that the next car would be a sedan.
Do you need the extra room for a 5th passenger? I wouldn't be concerned about the HP ratings as the 9-3 is a lighter vehicle and the difference should not be all that noticable. If I were buying strictly for myself, I would have chosen the 9-3. At some point, I will turnover the 9-5, however, my 900 will remain with me.
If you decide on a 9-5, I'd stay away from the silver ones. Although a nice color, its the most popular color the past 3 years for all cars and it will completely blend in with Hondas and Toyotas, at least from the rear angle.
