What to do? Thanks in advance.
Car: 1999 SAAB 9-5 Sedan
Mileage: when bought 40,100 now 71,100
Problems:
- car fell off certified dealer's car lift just before I arrived to sign and drive it home
- waited a month to get it
- supposedly, everything had been fixed, but window rattled and felt like it would brake when closing door while its 1/4 or more opened. Dealer said NY dealer can fix it
(After Back In NY)
- crank shaft replaced
- alternator replaced
- fuel tank replaced (reported under warranty, but dealer only saw it after warranty expired $$$)
- bolts and nuts replaced (not covered under warranty while warrenty active)
- fixed window under warranty in NY, but still in same condition (it may break)
- some other stuff that I have on receipts covered under warranty
- (now) severe vibration coming from rear (replaced tire and balanced, but problem still there. another driver told me my wheel was vibrating quite a bit)
- turbo replaced (not under warranty) $$$$$$$$
- exhaust flex pipe replaced (not under warranty) $$$$$$
- front muffler replaced (not under warranty) $$$$$
- rear muffler replaced (not under warranty) $$$$$$
(last four repairs total is $2,037.32. First, just this than that, than that from $312.00 to $812.00 to $1,037.32. SAAB MFG paid for some)
- AC does not work (afraid what that will cost!!! Also, SAAB and dealer are denying any and all responsibility from car fall and possible lemon)
- display does not work properly, sometime it does not display enough characters to make sense of it
Other than what is above I have not noticed any other problems or I forgot about them and would have to refer to receipts.
My wife does not want to have anything to do with SAAB cars from now on because we've been towed so many times and are I'm paying for everybody mortgage payment and falling short on mine. We are thinking Lexus or other reliable brand. Should I stay with SAAB or leave. BTW, I've supported SAAB for many years from 84' 900, 89' 9000 and now 9-5. I've lost interrest and that SAAB character feeling. I need reliability and keep some $$$$ in my pocket!
