Hi, I've never had an automatic trans either, been shifting gears for a long time. I think it's a personal preference, and what you are used to. I test drove several different vehicles this time around, and as much as I thought I was finally ready to give in, I just couldn't bring myself to buy an automatic. I like having control of when it shifts. I have read that the new 5sp. auto is pretty nice, unfortunately it is the only one of the '02 lineup that I did NOT drive. I had an Arc for a weekend trip, and it was nice, but again, I just couldn't love the automatic. I think the only way you will know for sure is to test drive them both. Whichever one you choose, the Aero is a fantastic car!
