Adding Rear Speakers to a 99?

I have a "non-SE" 99 9-5 that has every option EXCEPT the HK Audio upgrade. Thus: No speakers on the rear deck. Thinking it would be an easy addition, I grabbed a pair of 6X9s, and went to install them. Surprise...No wires!
So now I'm wondering. Why werent the cars pre-wired, and if they are, where are the wires? Should I tap in at the door speakers?
Anyone else run into this?
