Hi Taras,
Typically spoilers, wings, etc. have become, essentially, fashion statements and are considered to give a car an "attitude" - which isn't all bad. After all, how many of us really exploit the advantages of a 17" wheel and tire package (or 18/19/20 for that matter) - but they sure look good! I remember respectable handling from my 1975 Datsun 280Z on 15" radials and Bob Sharp Alloys (a whoppin' 5.5 inches wide).
Any way, some "spoilers" are effective at regular road speeds (60-90mph). The winglet on my '01 Audi TT quattro helps to stabilize the car at speed. Same is true for the wings on the Porsche Boxster and 996's. The Saab wing is primarily decorative - but it looks great. Oh well, I have not installed a wing on my '02 Aero, but I went with wider wheels, different tires and a sport exhaust. will I carve a swifter line on my exit ramps? Probably not as what the car really needs is a stiffer, less wallowy suspension. But I enjoy the sound and feel and make no apologies.
If you like the looks of the spoiler - get one..
Happy motoring
Eric
