Alicia,
There are many great threads that have been posted here in the past that deal with your question. Do a search and you will learn a lot.
That being said, you need:
1. 4.1 quarts of semi-syn or full synthetic oil (assuming a 2.3t engine in your car). Saab sells their 5W-30 semi-syn for $2.50/qt at the dealer parts counter. A popular full-syn oil is Mobil 1 in 5W-30 or 0W-40 (what I use). A lot of people have a very emotional attachment to their particular oil. All in all, if you are changing every 5K miles, these will all do the job well.
2. Filter. You can use the Saab OEM filter (again, at the dealer) or several other brands. Most recommend either the Saab filter (~$5), Mobil 1 (M1-102, ~$10, what I use), or the AC Delco.
3. You'll also need: an oil pan, a jug or two in which to pour your spent oil, an oil filter wrench, and a drop-cloth if you don't want to get oil on your pavement.
4. You'll need a quality set of ramps and blocks. This is the most important point. People have died after being trapped under their car if the ramps or blocks fail. Some people will use several cinder blocks or thick wooden logs under the car once it is up on the ramp as a safeguard that might buy you a few inches should the car come down.
Good luck and have fun,
pogeybait
