i am in Boston - pot holes & granite curbs & snow etc.
I am looking to buy an 03 AERO wagon ( once i can get a decent incentive deal ) and am concerned with the tires .
i get no clear/ consistent information from the sales guys as to the viability of switching off the standard issue 17's & going with 16' all season type for winter & summer ( i don't have a lot of storage space to store an extra sets of tires )
I am really not familiar with performance of hi performance / low profile ( lo sidewall) tires but they look like they are vulnerable to a higher chance of tire damage due to low side wall ( ie hitting a pot hole ) & thus expensive tire & wheel damage
a) did you consider switching to 16's ?
b) have you had a lot of damage to the wheels
c) do the 17's low profile give the car sufficiently better performance to warrant the risk of damage ?
thanks
