The 9-5 rides much better, fully independent rear suspension and much stiffer chassis so the suspension can do a better job. Overall chassis is much more solid, no hatchback squeaks and rattles, no roadnoise coming through hatch. 9-5 seats do fold down and will handle 95% of what the hatch will or get a SportWagon. 9-5 interior has tilt and telescope, dual digital climate controls, CD and cassette. Harmon-Kardon is dynamite. Hope you weren't considering a 9-3 with the dreaded HVAC knobs that always break. 9-3SE's with ACC don't seem to have HVAC problems, 9-3's with knobs are notorious. 9-5's have an unbeatable reliability record. Newer design is also improved quality.
