If the people who have prob,ems,( and know about this board and bother to post their troubles), and the people who have not had a SID failure do NOT post it on this board, how can you possibly make such a ludicrous statement that "everyone knows that these things are failing at an unacceptable rate? What are your facts based on? If you read the drivel on ths board and extrapolate that every car that Saab produces has a problem just because someone like you dramatizes it here, Saabs would never run,Saab would sell no cars, and the board would not exist. Think about it for a second. Just because yours failed, does not mean anything at all regarding the overall failure rate for that item.
In closing, don't you think that Saab tracks the failure rate of products and makes changes in design or manufacture to reduce both warranty cost, and inprove public perception of it's products. By the way, Saab's quality ratings for model year 01 weere outstanding, and handily beat many Japanese and German competitors.
