The DI is not a maintenance item. It is designed to last for the life of the car. The same system on 9000s, 900s, and 9-3s have lasted several 100K miles. The new "Global GM" engines use the same system. The only reason the DI fails is an internal defect. So if you have a 'good one' that is working properly, the more miles on it, the lower the probability that it will fail.
As Scott said on another topic, what you read here are posts from owner's with problems. If you asked two questions "whose DI has failed" and "whose DI hasn't failed", the hasn't failed would fill up the list's disk space.
