The other day, while at one of those lights where the right lane ends shortly after the light, I find myself first in line and in the right hand lane. Next to me is what looks like a fairly beefed up pickup truck. The guy obviously did not want me to get out in front of him. So off we went at the green! My aero took a bit of a beating for the first second, but then when the turbo kicked in I quickly caught up to him. We then were neck and neck, until... he had to shift into second gear. At that point I could hear his engine hitting the rev limiter, I went to second automatically, and took off, leaving plenty of space for a safe lane change before my lane ended. I would guess that even if he made his shift correctly, unless he was a real professional driver, the slight delay made from first to second would have given me the edge anyway.

Not that I'd advocate racing on the street or anything, but It would have been interesting had it been another aero with a stick next to me. Of course all other things need to be equal as I have a 2000 so the stick gets that extra boost, etc.

On a side note (probably better for the performance group), since the 2002 now has the same hp/torque in both auto & stick, is that just an ECU update the dealer can do to mine to give me the added power?
