I'm not a newbie to SAAB's or saabnet.com boards, but I've never visited this board before. I do see that there is a raging debate about oils absent from several other boards heres.

Anyone recommend using conventional oil to begin with then switching to synthetic? Or start with synthetic?

I was considering getting a new SAAB in 2003 and possibly changing the oil with conventional at, maybe, 1k and 3k miles, then switching to synthetic at 5k. Is this the best way, but not mentioned by SAAB because it is too confusing or is synthetic from the beginning the best advice.
