I'm told that the new Nokian WR winter tires are the ultimate; I went with the Gislaved because the whole package was being offered at a good price on decent looking SAAB/BBS rims. I figure any old winter tire from Sweden should be way more than enough for the winter conditions here in NYC, and maybe the occasional ski trip up to New England... I'll write about 'em when I get to use 'em!
There's a review for the Gislaved NordFrost II on a Miata board (link below), the writer says the Blizzaks are better for really ugly conditions, but the Gislaved would be better if you were to stud them.
I like Blizzaks too but the set my dad has (MZ-02 I think) wore out way too quickly..
