9-5 CD player

Hi all!
Here's a weird one: Has anyone noticed that their 9-5 CD player scratches their CDs? I have noticed that after playing brand new CDs in my 9-5, they have minor scratches afterward. The scratches don't affect play (i.e., they don't make the music skip or whatever) but they are scratches nonetheless and I am wondering whether this is normal. My friend brought a CD to my car and was upset afterward because of the minor scratches (about 2 or 3 about half an inch in length). Then again, she's the type of person who cares meticulously for her CDs and NONE of her CDs have ANY scratches whatsoever.
What are your thoughts? Is this a 9-5 thing? Do all car CD players do this and I never noticed before? I suppose the scratches make sense: The car is moving after all. The CD is bound to move in there and, well, get scratched. I have been thrilled with the CD player otherwise.
