It will void any warranty on the ECU itself. And if the engine or driveline/trany had a failure which the dealer or Saab attributed to mechanical overload, then no warranty there. If the water pump starts leaking, they will have a hard time claiming that the ECU mod caused it. Depends on the dealer to a large extent. The ECU's have a known history of being trouble free. If you have an engine with a mechanical defect that is waiting to surface, having a mod'ed ECU in place might be a problem.
So, the best advice with some mods, you are your own warranty. Not much comfort.
