The improving stability at high speeds
is due to the fact that the 9-5 is quite
nimble for its size at slower speeds which
is achieved through the suspension setup, (camber etc.)
at higher speeds weight shifts and airfoil lift
of the car make it more stable as more pressure
is put on the rear wheels (drag force) and less
on the front (lift), the car thus understeers a bit
more and feels more stable. For the US market this
might not be the best setup as many peole never
cruise at 110Mph... but the stability starts improving
around 85Mph which is a speed we cuise at in Europe.
If SAAB were to make it stable at 70Mph it would be
less fun to drive on a twisted road.
Regards,
Coolknight
