I too, drive a V-6 with the same observation as yours regarding the 4-cyl vibration at idle. When I was buying my car, I was comparing it to the LPT fours and not the Aero.
I drove a friends '02 Aero automatic a couple of months ago and found it quite a nice ride. The level of vibration didn't bother me - but to be totally honest, I wasn't looking for it either. Sport Mode was my top priority :-).
There have been reports on this board and in the press of vibration at idle with the Aero automatics, but it seems to be vary a lot from vehicle to vehicle. Of course, this could also be a function of individual perception.
I would suggest that you test drive one or more Aero's and see if the vibration bothers you. Be sure that it's warm enough for the ACC compressor to be engaged. Also be sure to test drive the actual vehicle you plan to buy, when it gets to that point.
