Snow Replacements for Michelin Pilots on Aero

I have a 2000 Aero. Been told that if I want snows, I have to have a 16" snow, and cannot use a steel wheel because the size of the brakes requires a wheel size that can only be had in an alloy wheel. If this is true, this is diappointing because that means additional expense. What advise you Aero owners have for me? For my 900se I have the saab snow package--glivestads on steel rims--and they're terrific and were priced very reasonalby.
