9-5 vs 900 'inspiration'......

I've driven a 9-5 Aero and I found that it wasn't as inspiring
as my 9000. I'm sure it could be with a little modification.
Being several hundred pounds heavier, it would take more
than 25 hp to get me inspired. I would think that a swedish
tuner like MapTun or the swiss one,Hirsch, could transform
it more to my liking. However, I have a modified 9000 and
know that it would take much more modification to a 9-5
to equal it. The intake is much more restrictive on a 9-5
than a 9000. The turbine is smaller on the 9-5, so it may
spool a bit faster, but the larger turbine on the 9000 will
ultimately produce more power. Besides, with a larger
exhaust (3"), and driving technique, spool-up isn't that much of a concern. Handling-wise, I prefer the 9000. In theory, independent
rear suspension sounds great, but in practice, the old axle tube
design does quite well. 2Slow has spoken at length about this.
With only poly bushings on the front control arms
and steering rack, bilstein shocks all-around and good high
performance tires (Firestone SZ-50's), I can't imagine a 9-5
handling any better than my 9000. With my suspension set-up
and the SZ-50's, I hardly notice any torque-steer, even with my
substantial performance modifications.
