Hi,

By the way, why are you limiting yourself to those two choices? Are
you only looking at MY99 9-5s, or are you turned off by metallic dash of
Aero. I personally think metallic dash-board should be an option, since
so many people dislike it.

Let me tell you that much cyber-blood has been shed over this very same
issue :-) In the past, I have been known to cause strife along these
lines as well.

Now, there is an uneasy peace, but any bad-mouthing of V6 will result
in general muster and institution of draft of the V6 camp :-)

3.0L V6 engine is not the notorious Opel V6. It is Vauxhall V6 which
has proven more reliable than Opel V6. Your choice will be made easier by
the fact that V6 only comes with automatic transmission and with loosely
sprung suspension geared more toward luxury. If anything, 3.0L V6 has
proven to be more trouble free than 2.3L I4.

2.3LPT and 2.3HOT enjoy Saab loyalist following. The basic 2.3L engine
is descendant of slant Triumph I4 which was first put in Saab 99 (which
was sold in the 70s). As such, Saab technicians have decades of
experience working on this same engine configuration. Also, this engine
has been proven to be good for upwards of 300,000 miles. Perhaps 3.0L V6
has similar durability, but that remains to be seen.

2.3LPT and 2.3HOT can be had with manual transmission as well as with
the reliable Aisin Warner automatic transmission.

3.0L V6 may be your best choice if you want luxury.

2.3L HOT (Aero) will be your best choice for performance.

You'll find that 2.3LPT will be the best value for the money.

thanks

Jae
