Hi,
V6 has not suffered nearly the incidence of DI failures as I4.
My new theory is that silver DI cassettes are better ventilated because
of larger vertical clearance as compared to I4.
If you look at an I4, you're inevitably looking at it with the hood
up, but you have to imagine the very small gap between DI cassette and
inside part of the hood when the hood is closed. So, basically that
thing is cooking. You wouldn't subject fried eggs to those temperatures
for fear of over-cooking them :-)
Your problem is more likely a problem with spark plugs. Please either
go in early for your 40K service or replace plugs yourself.
