rotor wear and OEM pads

I've ranted on the horror that I experienced seeing my 800-mile old car develop ugly grooves on couple of rotors, and being told by service mgr that it is normal for Saab and Volvo (dealer for both) rotors, as they are soft and the pads have chunks of metal. Not to worry, as the metal chunk wears away, the rotors will even out.
At the 10,000 mile service, dealer gave me thickness dimensions they measured, but I still don't know what original thickness is to compare and determine a projected lifespan.
Last week I installed my snow tires, and the rotor-wear had evened out. No alarming grooves, but still more wear than I'd like to see (I was spoiled by Prelude rotors never wearing out).
Now I'm going on the assumption that the rotors won't last 50,000 miles. I'll try my hardest to get rotors replaced as warranty item (at least material, if not labor). Unless Saab changes pads by then, my next pads will be EBC's.
I would like for yourself and your brother and friend to write letters to Saab of America, complaining about rotors requiring replacement at 30,000 miles, while the pads had not been neglected. It will make it easier for my possible claim in a few years. Who knows, maybe they'll send you a Saab t-shirt.
