I thought that aggressive bedding-in was to burn off the excess glue between the brake pad and its backing plate, resulting in a firmer brake pedal with less "mush".
Then, when all this EBC info came about, I read somewhere that the purpose of aggressive bedding-in is to transfer a thin amount of pad material to the brake rotor (??) It's thought that this might help protect against rotor wear? Have no idea as to how true that is.
I pretty much have never performed aggressive bedding-in of new pads, except for once, when I installed Repcos on an old 924, long ago. I tend to go easy on the brakes, seems to work for me.
