Hi all,
Well, I have finally migrated over here from the NG900 board, as I just purchased a '99 9-5 SE Silver, 4cyl Manual, Black int. I feel like quite a total yuppy when I look out to my driveway and see my old Silver 96 900S and the 9-5 next to each other. Quick poll: is there anyone on the BB that is younger than 23, or am I the youngest 9-5 owner in the land of saabnet?
Questions:
1) Below the seat heater controls I have a cubby, in pics online it looks like a drawer, but on mine it is just an open shelf with a non attached rubber mat similar to the cubby in the NG900. Is this an interchangeable unit? I actually like the open cubby as I can put my wallet there, I'm just wondering why my car doesnt match other pictures.
2) The driver side mirror is a no worky turkey. It wont move when the button is pressed, and the mirror rattles around when driving quite distractingly (if thats a word). When i shut my car door it also rattles, making me think a piece has come loose behind the mirror face. The mirror heat DOES work however. Anyone have experience with a similar issue? If there is a quick fix I would like to try it rather than travel 60 miles to the dealer.
3) I bought the car from a military family who lived in europe at the time of delivery. They participated in that saab program where you go to the factory and pick up your new car. When they were transferred back to the states it was shipped here. My question is, do I have the 4yr/50,000 mile warranty, or did i get screwed out of it because they bought it in europe? Heck, I guess a better question would be, do I even get the warranty coverage since I am a second owner? If so, what do i have to do to set myself up with it?
4) It seems as if the car follows the crown of the road, or it may need an alignment. There seems to be no real "on center" spot in the steering, making long highway drives more tiresome. Perhaps this is a function of what I feel is steering that has more power assist than the NG900. Any thoughts about this? Do people generally find the 9-5 to have more finicky steering than the NG900/9-3?
5) What does it mean when I start the car and the climate control just says "0" in an odd orange light and nothing else? It stays frozen there for a bit, and then resets itself (cant remeber if i had to restart the car for it to reset) This was a bit scary.
Guess that's it for now. I am really enjoying the car, I just put over a thousand miles on it for my holiday trip from Huntingtown, MD to Rochester, NY and back. The turbo is a blast (my 900 was a non-turbo), I know I am going to get a ticket for going 40 in a 30 or something similar since I cant really tell the difference in speed between 25-50 without staring at the speedo.
