...We just replaced a '99 9-5 wagon with a '03 and I removed the factory wiring harness(which already has the brakelight/tailight coverter wired in) from the old car and plugged in it in on the new. Because the plug that receives the harness is already wired into the car,the process takes only a few minutes (attaching the ground wire takes the most time.)The plug for the harness is found to the right in the spare tire compartment. To use a regular pigtail type harness you probably would need to tap into the plug in the car and determine what wire does what ( I'm not sure I would want to get into that.) My suggestion would be to buy the harness. Because hitches for the car are now available from non-Saab sources,I would guess that harnesses are also.
