I have the bridge spoiler on my '03 Aero wagon, and while it's great in preventing rain/snow from above from hitting the glass, but the problem is that most of the dirt that ends up on the glass is coming from the road...i.e. being kicked up by the tyres.
I think having rear mud flaps would be a better choice in preventing a lot of wiping needs, though I would think that it was only reduce the issue somewhat. In a saloon car, at least you have the rear quarter of the car that takes the brunt of the rain/snow/grime, and the window is spared.
You might want to try Rain-X on the rear glass...
Just my two cents. Or two pence, in this case! :-)

P.S. No laughing here. I drove a Scorpio 24V back when they were new...best car Ford ever made (except maybe the Sapphire Cosworth 4x4) I have yet to find a car with a more comfortable back seat than that one!!!
