Will shark fin antennae work?

I posted some of this last week on a related thread last week:
"A lot of our cars come pre-wired with an antennae cable for a roof mounted antennae. My car is a '99, and I assume the cable is there even though there is no antennae installed.
The new cars come with the shark-fin type. Does that require drilling holes through the roof panel? Or, is it glued on so that it transmits signal through the panel the way a backlight mounted antennae works?"
It received one response and the person didn't think the Saab factory "shark fin" roof mounted antennae would work with CDMA/TDMA networks -but wasn't sure. I use a Sprint PCS dual band phone by Samsung. I'm not sure if it's CDMA/TDMA or not. I have the car kit, and am going to wire it in to my stereo system, or have it done. Just not sure at this point if I need the adaptor or what antennae to purchase. Ideally, I'd rather use the roof mounted fin -so long as I don't have to drill holes in my roof panel and it works with the netowrk I use.
Any insight?
