You can probably do better price wise on an Aero. And, if its important to you (as it was to Les and I) there's no wagon option on the Infinity

You should re-evaluate your thoughts on interior room- perhaps the front seats are similar, but the Aero has far roomier back seats and much larger cargo area (esp the wagon!)

Don't worry about company stability, Like Sieglo says, GM won't go out of business anytime soon. I'm not sure about in the US, but here in Canada it is federally mandated that a company be able to supply spare parts for a minimum of 10 years after the vehicle was built (so, no matter what, you'd be OK for parts until at least 2013)

Depending how much you drive- with the rising cost of fuel and the low mileage on the G35 (something like 30% less than the Aero) You'll pay much more in the long run. Based on current fuel prices, and the amount I personally drive (about 40K kms/yr) I calculate it would cost me about $1200/yr more for fuel on the G35. Over a 60mo finance term thats $6 Grand Canadian more- there goes your cost advantage. Don't forget you'll be buying 2 more spark plugs at every tune up, and I'm not sure about the timing drive, but the Nissan likely has a belt which will need to be changed in that 5 year period (usually a fairly expensive procedure). When I asked the Infinity salesman about the G35's mileage I was told "When you're looking at a car of this stature, mileage isn't an issue" He must have been confused as to why I asked. You don't want to support terrorism do you?

While you're comparing a 9-5 to a G35, While the G35 is indeed a nice car, I think a much fairer comparison would be G35 vs. 9-3SS. I think you'll find in this case you'd get a competitive car for a lot less...

Its true that the G35 likely (I've not checked this) has lower depreciation It depends how you'll be purchasing this car, and how long you care to keep it. I think the 9-5 will be cheaper in the long run as the depreciation tends to level off at a certain point and the 9-5 is likely to be in better shape once this point is reached. ANY car is a bad investment if you look at it in terms of depreciation anyways.

Just like everyone else here will tell you- drive them both and buy the one you like best now. If you don't like what you purchased trade it in in a few years for whatever the "hot" car is then...

Happy shopping,

Brad
