Don't worry, I'm not offended Posted by Scotty [Email] ![]() ![]() In Reply to: Just Bought 1999 9-5 2.3lpt, Scotty ![]() |
Sorry, I should have mentioned that I've already learned to bend over when going into the Princeton NJ Saab dealer, from my prior dealings with my 900set and 9k.
I did try two different suspension places before going to the dealer, but they said they can't get parts for the 9-5, and could only recommend I go to the dealer. I also wanted to get the muffler replaced because it's got a big rusty dent in it, although not leaking yet. Dealer said $450, I passed on that. I found a Starla replacement at auto-parts-wholesale.com for ~$175, and the local Midas shop said they'd have no problem installing it.
Dealer also wanted $215 to replace the foglight...that one I can do myself for $116 in parts.
Pads on the front should be done too, and I can do that my self also.
So, for the stuff I can't and/or don't feel qualified to do i.e., keys, remotes, struts cartridges, oil lines, I'm stuck with the dealer. I don't know any good Saab indys around here.
Anyway, I know the dealer stinks, but I was wondering if folks thought the all-in price of $11,800 for a fully functional 99 9-5 81kmi is decent. The lowest I've seen the higher mileage ones going for around here are $14k, and the dealer is selling 1999 9-5s w/75k miles for $18k, probably could negotiate to high sixteens.
