I'm not sure you can say the V6 is more expensive to maintain. While I haven't had my 99 V6 long enough to really tell (about 3 months), in just reading this message board it seems the 1999 4 cyl has many more inherent problems with it. (I'm not trying to start a 4 vs. 6 argument here, because I've never driven the 4, but just my observation)
