I broke down on the 9-3 & bought a second set of rims for "winter" tires (NOT snows, since they get left on the car for more than half the year), so I do the same as AeroLady on that car.
For the C900, I just swap'em every 10k. Right now I'm stuck with Pirelli P400s, but I've been checking them with the tread-depth gauge & they've been wearing pretty consistently at about 2/32" every 10k. This gives me about 1/32" difference for the entire time period (1/32" high at the start, & 1/32" low at the end).
