I have also looked at ISOFIX car seats by Romer / Britax previously as it makes sense to install child seats 'anchored' to the car and not reliant on precise installation on seat belts. When I tried to buy the seat from Britax, their customer services helpline were not interested, as their seats have not been tested in Saabs. They would only supply the seat on a vehicle approved basis and mentioned all sorts of legal / insurance implications.
At the end of the day, if I personally decide to buy the seat from one of their retailer's with the view that it is a safer option, then who is going to stop me ? I can't see how I am breaking the law but I am not sure about personal injury in the event of an insurance claim.
As far as I am aware, the seats would fit into a Saab with ISOFIX no problem. I suppose as it is not vehicle approved, you are relying solely on Saab's say so and engineering.
On vehicle approval, they of course said for me to speak with Saab. Saab UK office know nothing so I would be interested to know if you have any indication from Saab Switzerland about this.
No help to you really ! ... but let me know how you get on...
