Have a shop replace the fresh air/pollen filter and carbon filter.
It's hidden behind the glove compartment inside the A/C and heater box.
It's a very common problem on the 99 and early 2000, later on they replace the filter with a new style. And that's the one they should install in your car.
I suspect that the filter got forgotten on the 30 and 60 K service. That happens if the service is not done at a Saab shop.
