I have a 2000 MY with the banana remote. The range from the front is somewhat shorter than from the sides or rear but I get at least 20 feet. From the sides and rear I get more like 50 to 60 feet when holding the remote high around head level and pointing the key attachment end of the remote toward the car. The ranges are somewhat shorter with the remote in other positions and angles but never less that 10 feet from the front and 20 feet from other angles. If you aren't getting that kind of range, something is wrong, either the remote or the receiver in the car aren't tuned quite right or your battery is low.
